Hi! I’m Karina Zemel, a freelance communications strategist and editor based near Houston, Texas. I help nonprofits, research institutions, and other mission-driven organizations communicate complex ideas with clarity and impact. I can craft and coordinate a messaging strategy for your team, distill your research into short-form content, or copyedit your long-form writing in a pinch — or all of the above, depending on your needs.
I spent five years leading these types of projects at a policy research institute, where I worked as a senior editor and later policy communications specialist before pursuing my own research at the intersection of policy, media, and cultural narrative. My approach to communications incorporates skills from across these experiences to deliver sharp, compelling messaging and help drive your mission forward.
